The DEIU team got you started thinking about creating a career that gives you the flexibility to be who you are and the steps to make that happen. Now let’s take that one step further and give you some tips to optimize going overseas.

1) What You Need To Know

We are big believers in learning from those who came before you in order to make your overseas trek easier and more seamless. Here is one of our favorite articles about how to prepare and what to pack, along with a resource to evaluate the pros and cons to making the jump. Here is another resource in case you are making an extravagant time zone leap.

2) Minimize Your $ Outflow With Affordable Living Across The Globe

There are many places across the globe where the cost of living is much lower than the good old US. Fast Company recently published a nice snapshot of the top places to live across that globe that minimize your cash outflow and help you endeavor to embrace the global lifestyle. While there are hundred of possibilities, here is a great list to get you started.

3) Co-Working Spaces

Global co-working spaces can ease your transition into your working nomad lifestyle. They are popping up in exotic locations so you can travel and work at the same time, while facilitating a community that meets your personal development, technology and office space needs. One example of that is Bali’s amazing and fast growing start-up ecosystem. Another option is moving across multiple cities and letting Roam do the heavy lifting for you for logistics.

4) Community

One of things that can be daunting when you are exploring this option is leaving all of your friends and family behind. There is a ready-made source to connect you to the expat community, as well as fellow freedom nomads just like yourself. Here are some of our favorite links to find friends or NomadList for all sorts of great forums.

5) Technology

When you are a nomad, technology can be the bane of your existence. While there are hundreds of options out there, here are some of our favorites to solve your technology issues.
